The "National Guard Protection Act" was sent to Governor Haslam's desk after passing both the House and Senate.

It passed both votes Monday on Capitol Hill.

The bill will add more security cameras to military facilities across the state, and also require the guard to install safety barriers and magnetic locks with keypads.

The facilities will also be required to have "mobile ballistic shields" otherwise known has handheld shields.

The push for safety upgrades comes after last July's deadly attack on two military installations in Chattanooga.
