McCracken County deputies say a man led them through a high-speed chase after he was attempting to shoplift several items, including cheesecake, from a convenience store.

Multiple media outlets report that Sunday, 34-year-old Jeremy Egan was arrested on a myriad of charges after deputies say he tried to steal cheesecake, candy and a lighter from a Paducah convenience store. When deputies tried to conduct a traffic stop, they say Egan kept driving and led them on a chase that reached speeds of 100 miles per hour. Egan reached the Farley area before running into a ditch.

Egan and his front-seat passenger, 29-year-old Amy Cash, were taken to Lourdes Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Egan was arrested on several charges, including shoplifting and reckless driving.
