Ford issues recall for 271K trucks, brake fluid leak could cause accidents

Posted

Ford issued a massive recall on Wednesday that affects more than a quarter of a million pickup trucks.

The company says that 271,000 F-150 pickup trucks are prone to a brake fluid leak that could reduce the truck’s stopping power. The affected trucks were made in 2013 and 2014 model years and have 3.5-liter V6 engines.

The company said the problem has caused nine accidents that did not result in any injuries. They also said one driver reported a knee injury from attempting to apply the brakes.

Dealerships will replace the brake master cylinder for free. The company is currently ordering the necessary parts and will begin notifying customers on July 11.
