McDonald's cuts back on Ronald McDonald appearances amid creepy clown concerns

Ronald McDonald is keeping a low profile amid nationwide concerns of creepy clowns.

McDonald's announced they planned to cut down the usage of Ronald McDonald, several outlets reported after multiple reports of unrelated creepy clown sightings that have lead to FBI investigations, school closings and other incidents.

McDonald's Corp. said it is being "thoughtful in respect to Ronald McDonald's participation in community events" as a result of the "current climate around clown sightings in communities," the Associated Press reported.

Ronald McDonald debuted in 1963 and the famous Ronald McDonald House Charity started in 1974.
