NASHVILLE, Tenn. – With a little help from their neighbor, a Davidson County couple was able to restrain an alleged burglar until police arrived on the scene.

Officials with Metro police said the incident began when the couple came home and found Christopher Haas sitting on their couch and staring off into space.

The husband tried to grab Haas’s head while the wife tried to tie him to the couch using zip ties. Haas was able to free himself and ran out of the house.

The husband chased after him and the two got into an altercation in the street. At that point, the husband pulled out a gun and fired into the air, which caused Haas to run off.

He ran into a neighbor's yard, who came outside and worked with the husband to hold Haas at the home until police arrived.

Haas was taken into custody and charged with burglary and theft of property

According to police, he stacked several items outside the home, which he had intended to steal.

A photo of Haas was not immediately available.
