The Nashville Electric Service warned customers of scammers claiming to be the electric company.
NES officials said the callers will use the outage numbers to contact customers. That's when they allegedly demand money, saying that they will cut the customer's electric if no payment is received.
If you see the outage number, 615-234-0000, NES officials warned you to not answer the call, saying the company does not contact customers from that number.
Officials urged customers to ensure the status of their account by calling the NES Customer Relations at 615-736-6900.
