A new mural is designed to inspire current and future generations of inner-city kids in Nashville.
The mural was unveiled Tuesday afternoon inside Youth Encouragement Services (YES) on Lindsley Avenue in Nashville.
The colorful mural fills the walls of a room that students often use to do homework. It features inspirational messages like “rise up,” and “never give up.” Officials with YES hope it provides additional love and encouragement for students.
“We wanted to show our children no matter what you are doing, Christ is behind you,” said Samantha Johnson, Operations Manager and Volunteer Coordinator at YES. “You can stand up, rise up, and never give up.”
Local artist, Kim Radford, worked with YES to complete the project. She has also painted murals outside Mitchell Deli in East Nashville and inside several Nashville elementary schools.
It took Radford a couple of weeks to design the mural, and members of the Franklin Christian Church helped with the painting.
YES serves more than 75 kids every day through after school and summer camp programs.
