NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A member of Congress is renewing his call for a federal law to crack down on ticket scalping across the country following an exclusive NewsChannel 5 investigation.
Our investigation revealed how very few tickets were really left by the time tickets went on sale to the general public for Justin Bieber's upcoming concert at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena.
We also found evidence that Bieber's own tour held out some tickets that were later listed on scalping websites across the country.
Congressman Bill Pascrell, D-New Jersey, issued a statement Wednesday saying: "This latest report confirms what fans across this country ... have long known: the game is rigged against them."
He added that "it's particularly egregious that tickets held back by Justin Bieber himself were not given to friends or family, but instead scalped to the highest bidder."
Pascrell is pushing legislation that require that fans be told how many tickets are really available. It would also make it illegal for artists to scalp their own tickets.
That legislation has been dubbed the BOSS Act because it was first drafted following a botched sale of Bruce Springsteen tickets in 2009.
