NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Eating heart healthy starts by eating fresh! One St. Thomas nurse is bringing produce directly to patients.

Reggie Marshall is a medical professional, but says his first love and first degree was in agriculture.

Now this Midtown nurse is combining both - opening a fresh produce stand right on hospitals grounds.

Marshall has partnered with Dr. Stacey Davis. She's a cardiologist who will offer free healthy heart consultations.

"This [market] is something we've been talking about for over a year. We have been talking about how to get more heart healthy eating options to our staff and our patients," she said.

Dr. Davis says eliminating processed foods is critical.

"Diet is 50-percent if not more important to your heart health," she said.

Marshall has 60 varieties of herbs and veggies. They even have local beef brought in by another coworker to complete the meal.
