Officers Connect With People During Coffee With A Cop

Police officers across the mid-state chatted with people at fast food restaurants as part of National Coffee With a Cop Day.

There were planned times for officers to stop in and talk with members of the community.

Some Metro Nashville officers chatting with community members at the McDonald's on Broadway.

"Actually a minute ago we were able to somebody newly homeless - connect them with some folks from Room in the Inn to offer them services; so I think it just all goes with the core mission and one of the things we try to do - be in the community and try to help people out," said Commander Gordon Howey.

Commander Howey said events like this also might make people feel a little more comfortable when they see a police officer - instead of just seeing them when something bad is happening.
