Officials in the state said they want drivers to put the brakes on fatalities.
As of Monday, the number of statewide roadway fatalities was at 770, which was up from 757 this time last year. That number has shown no sign of stopping.
Megan Bogue, a wife and mother, survived a head-on collision in 2013, but she lost her three-year-old daughter and her mother in the crash.
“Our family joins this nationwide initiative and encourages all roadway users to exercise caution and obey traffic laws,” Bogue said. “Our goal is to prevent another family from burying a child or another loved one.”
Governor Haslam has declared Tuesday, October 10 as Put The Brakes on Fatalities Day.
The state said they just want all drivers to drive safely and have one day without any traffic deaths.
