ANTIOCH, Tenn. - How often have people had the chance to ice skate with an Olympic gold medalist?

Saturday, that's exactly what happened at the Ford Ice Center in Antioch.

Scott Hamilton hosted the first "Skate to Eliminate Cancer" event.

The event in Antioch was just one of five skating events happening at different centers across the country Saturday.

Hamilton lost his mother to cancer, and is a cancer survivor himself, so it has been his personal mission to raise money for a cure.

"Every penny that comes in we're going to keep funding as much research as possible to unlock all the mysteries of this disease so that it won't be a life threatening illness anymore, but more of something chronic people can go through and know their going to be just fine," Hamilton said.
