NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A shooting between two stepbrothers in East Nashville leaves one of them dead and the other in the hospital.

Metro police say the shooting seems to have happened randomly Tuesday morning on Burns Street because the two brothers had not seen one another in three years. There were no known issues between the two.

Police say 38-year-old Carson Denny showed up to the home and shot his younger stepbrother, 27-year-old Chandler Barnes, multiple times. Detectives say Denny then left the home, but then came back and shot Barnes again when he saw Barnes' fiancé, who saw the whole thing, attempting to get Barnes to the hospital.

We're told Denny then turned the gun on himself. Barnes was taken to Skyline Medical Center where he's
expected to be ok.

Investigators are still working to find the motive.

Vandy's band of misfits turns heads with 7-1 start

This is a story I immediately went home and showed my boys - young athletes with big dreams. The Vanderbilt football team's success has stolen the spotlight - what I love about Steve Layman's story is he reveals the individual hardships it took to get there. As Clark Lea says, "we all have scuff marks." This team proves perseverance pays off!
