NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Metro Nashville Police officers arrested two men after OnStar helped police by stopping the stolen vehicle they were chasing.

Carlos Petty, 17, and Demario Petty, 19, were arrested Tuesday night after allegedly carjacking multiple people and stealing two vehicles.

Police say the first vehicle was stolen just before 9 p.m. on Trellis Way in Goodlettsville. A 31-year-old reported being carjacked by two young men who approached him in his 2012 Jeep Wrangler and held him at gunpoint.

The second vehicle stolen was a Camaro on the 1100 block of Stockell Street at 9:05 p.m. The 33-year-old victim told police a Jeep and a second vehicle crashed into the front and rear of the Camaro. He said a young man armed with a gun approached and demanded the car. He said the gunman fired a shot into the Camaro, breaking the passenger window.

Officials say Juvenile Crime Task Force officers spotted the Camaro as it traveled onto Ellington Parkway and then I-65 North and tried to stop it.

However, police say the driver refused to stop. A police helicopter followed the vehicle from the air while police contacted OnStar to request the vehicle be shut down.

Petty reportedly admitted that he had the gun during both carjackings and that it was his brother who forcefully removed the driver of the Jeep. He is being held on a $145,000 bond on two counts of carjacking, felony reckless endangerment with a firearm, felony evading arrest, using a firearm in the commission of a dangerous felony, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and driving without a license.

Carlos Petty was charged at juvenile detention with two counts of carjacking, unlawful gun possession, and evading arrest.
