NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Nashville Community Oversight Board sent a letter to Mayor John Cooper asking him to intervene in what the board calls "unnecessary roadblocks" from the Metro Nashville Police Department.

In the letter, COB Chairperson Ashlee J. Davis says the Metro Nashville Police Department is unwilling to produce use of force documents requested by the Metro Nashville Community Oversight staff. She cited a request for data to assist the mayor's Use of Force Commission created last month that the department called impractical.

The letter also addresses an issue with Chief Steve Anderson, saying he is unwilling "to be a congenial partner in the work for community engagement and community policing." Davis goes on to cite an exchange between Anderson and COB Executive Director Jill Fitcheard in which the Chief's response was borderline "intimidation."

Mayor John Cooper announced Chief Anderson's retirement in June. He's expected to continue to work through at least late-October.
