A semi overturned on Charlotte Pike, stretching all the way across the road.

Charlotte Pike closed due to the crash Sunday night at Summerly Drive.

Reports stated the 18-wheeler was going eastbound when the load shifted, causing it to tip over.

The driver, Steven Lawson, was not injured in the wreck.

He said he works for Lewis Bakeries, Inc. in Murfreesboro. Lawson said he delivers bread and had nine more stops he was supposed to make.

“I was coming down the road," he said. "The road was wet, my load shifted to the right. It pulled me over to the ditch. My trailer pulled me to the ditch, and the whole load just shifted and lead me over sideways."

Lawson said he has been driving the truck for ten years, but he said this was the first time anything like this has happened.

"I was really lucky that I didn't plow straight into that light pole and that light didn't fall on top of me and ruin a lot of people's electricity," Lawson said.

Nashville Electric Service officials were called to the scene because he was inches away from hitting a pole.
