A lawsuit was filed against the Williamson County Board of Education by parents who said Independence High School officials did nothing after their daughter was sexually assaulted by another student.
The crime allegedly happened back in October, but the female student didn't tell school leaders until February of this year.
The parents claim the school did not follow policy or investigate the sexual assault claimed in a timely manner.
They said the school's investigation was not completed by the end of the school year and that their child was the subject of additional harassment because policies were not followed.
NewsChannel 5 contacted the Williamson County School District for comment, but got no response.
