A worker with the Tennessee Department of Transportation who died while on the job now has a highway named in his honor and memory.

Interstate 40 in Davidson County between mile makers 221 and 222 has been named the "James Rogers Memorial Highway."

Rogers was hit by a car on Christmas Eve in 2016 while he was helping a motorist change a flat tire.

He was a football coach at Cheatham County Central High School.
