A driver has been charged after a pedestrian was struck and killed overnight in north Nashville.

Metro Nashville Police officers said Hassan A. Jackson, age 39, was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe when he struck a parked car, before hitting a pedestrian and another parked vehicle.

The incident happened in a residential neighborhood on 22nd Avenue North across from Formosa Street around midnight.

The victim, identified as Gerald Dunn, died as a result of his injuries.

According to an affidavit, Jackson admitted he was driving and had "an obvious odor of alcohol about his person." He also reportedly had slurred speech, water eyes and was unsteady on his feet.
