Pedestrian Injured In Crash With Algood Officer

Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol confirmed a pedestrian was injured in a crash involving a police officer in Algood.

The wreck happened around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday on West Main Street, just east of the Cooper Road intersection.

Authorities said the pedestrian ran across the road and into lanes of travel. The pedestrian was hit by the officer's vehicle. Authorities said it was a low speed crash, stating the officer had just pulled away from the intersection after the traffic light changed.

The pedestrian was taken by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with possible serious injuries. The officer was not injured.
