A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle in Lewis County.
The wreck happened in the 600 block of Centerville Highway in Hohenwald around 7:15 p.m. Saturday.
According to reports from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a 34-year-old driver was headed north in a 2007 Dodge Journey when he hit the victim, later identified as 76-year-old Margaret A. Birdsall, of Hohenwald.
Authorities said Birdsall was on the northbound side of the highway trying to get an object from the roadside. She was hit from behind by the vehicle.
The driver did return to the scene of the crash. No charges were expected.
