A 49-year-old woman died after she was struck by a garbage truck in Nashville.
The incident happened Friday morning at South 6th Street and Shelby Avenue. Metro Nashville Police officials said Dalachandra Washington was trying to cross the street when she was struck.
Washington had just gotten off an eastbound WeGo Public Transit bus at 8:30 a.m. when police said she ran out from in front of the stopped bus and was struck by an eastbound garbage truck being driven by 49-year-old William Null.
Police said she was not in a crosswalk.
She was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She died from her injuries on Sunday.
