A 77-year-old man has died after he and his wife were hit by a vehicle in Sumner County.
The incident happened Monday evening while the couple was walking east on Rock Bridge Road between Gallatin and Bethpage.
Officials with the Sumner County Sheriff's office said the72-year-old woman was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she was in critical but stable condition.
The couple was hit by an 18-year-old driving westbound in a Chevy Blazer
Police said their initial investigation indicated that the width of the road and the position of the sun may have been a contributing factor. Drugs and alcohol tests were pending.
They said the driver was neither arrested or cited.
