Investigators have been called out to determine the identity and circumstances surrounding a body that was found in Christian County, Kentucky.
Officials said an officer with the Oak Grove Police Department was on patrol on Carter Road around 6 p.m. Wednesday when he discovered an unusual smell.
Upon further investigation, the officer discovered a deceased individual.
Thursday afternoon, authorities released autopsy information saying the body was that of a black male.
Further details were not released pending positive identification from DNA or dental records.
The body found in Oak Grove was being investigated by officials as a homicide.
Anyone with information has been asked to call the Kentucky State Police at 1-800-222-5555. Authorities said callers can remain anonymous.
The discovery was made in the same general area where 19-year-old De’Andre Marquis Palmer from Clarksville was last seen on July 16.
Officials from the Clarksville Police Department asked for help from the public to locate Palmer.
Family members from all over the country came to the area to aid in the search for Palmer.
Police did not say whether or not the body discovered in Oak Grove had anything to do with the missing man.
