MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WTVF) — A burglar made himself at home when he enjoyed a snack and took a shower in the house he broke in to. But it was the fingerprints on the snack he ate that helped police track him down.

Murfreesboro Police officials say 42-year-old Jimmy Dean Ulrich Jr. broke in to a home on Memorial Boulevard in August. He got in through a garage attic then dropped down through the living room ceiling, causing hundreds of dollars in damage.

That's when police say he drank a Red Bull Energy drink, ate a Pop-Tart, and took a shower. From the home, he stole guns, numerous pocketknives, money, an iPhone 7, boxes of ammunition, and other items. Ulrich Jr. also took a pair of jeans and some tools from a flatbed truck as well as a KTM 450 Dirt bike and motorcycle helmet. He left his shoes on the back patio.

Some of the stolen items were recovered from a duffle bag found on the property, but the guns and dirt bike are still missing.

Police were able to identify Ulrich Jr. as the burglar when the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) hit on a fingerprint recovered from a Pop-Tart wrapper.

Ulrich was already in custody at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center for contempt of court and was served warrants on Feb. 25, for aggravated burglary, theft ($2500 - $10,000), vandalism, and burglary to auto.

He remains in jail on a $21,500 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Court March 4.
