A man who police say took nine people hostage inside a Maury County bank while wielding a machete was arrested late Friday night.
According to law enforcement officials, 53-year-old Douglas Roach walked out of the Community First Bank and Trust in Columbia at 11:30 p.m. after nine hours of negotiations. Officials say Roach was not armed when he exited the bank but reportedly received minor injuries during the arrest.
Nine people taken hostage during the incident were released by the suspect.
The parking lot at the Community First Bank and Trust was blocked off by first responders and police.
Witnesses in nearby restaurants and businesses said a portion of South Campbell Boulevard and Keith Drive was blocked.
