CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Police said they’re searching for a man who allegedly ran away on foot after being wounded by a shotgun.

Authorities responded to the call of shots fired in the 1200 block of Archwood Drive around 11 p.m. Saturday.

Witness reported seeing a man, identified as 38-year-old Corey Chuncy Willis, with blood on his face, side and arms. They said he was running down the road and had allegedly been shot.

Officials said Willis’ girlfriend, identified as Shayla Ellis, and her brother approached the scene, but they ran when they heard the approaching sirens.

Officers located Ellis and interviewed her, which was when she told them she had driven from Michigan with Willis to visit her sister. According to Ellis, she and Willis had argued the entire trip, and Willis had reportedly punched her in the mouth.

Police said Ellis stated she scratched Willis and ran because the key broke off in the ignition. Officers said Ellis had a swollen lip and missing tooth.

Authorities recovered a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox with Michigan tags, unoccupied, at the intersection of Tobacco Road and Mallard Drive.

According to reports, a second fight happened between Willis and some friends and family of Ellis at a home on Archwood Drive. That’s where police said Willis was allegedly punched in the face before being shot.

Multiple interviews were conducted.

“I intend to charge Justin Wiggins with Attempted Homicide and patrol officers will charge Willis with Domestic Assault,” stated Detective Ron Parrish. “I also intend to charge four people for providing false information.”

Willis was not located, but police found two expended 12 gauge, #8 shot shotgun shells.

Authorities described Willis as a black male. He was last seen wearing orange shorts and no shirt.

Anyone with information on Willis’ location has been asked to contact Detective Ron Parrish at 931-648-0656, ext. 5356, or call 911.
