NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A babysitter has been indicted on multiple counts of abuse after police say a home security camera captured her assaulting a 13-month-old boy.
Officials with Metro police said 24-year-old Briana Campbell was arrested Sunday and charged with nine counts of attempted aggravated child abuse and two counts of aggravated child neglect.
According to police, Campbell was seen on a home security camera throwing the child on a couch, smothering him with pillows, carrying him upside down by the ankles and repeatedly striking him in the head and body.
The alleged incident happened during a three hour period on July 31.
The child was checked out by a pediatrician and did not sustain any serious injuries.
Police have asked the public’s help in identifying other possible victims that Campbell may have babysat in the recent past.
Anyone with information was urged to contact Youth Services Detective Brett Kenney at 615-862-7471.
