NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Metro Nashville Police officials urged drivers to "park smart" with home surveillance video that shows an attempted theft.
The video from a front door camera shows a vehicle pull up to a home's driveway on Northview Avenue in East Nashville.
A couple people get out, check to see if the parked cars were locked, then get back in their car.
Officials say this thieves are out in neighborhoods after dark looking for easy targets (vehicles that are left unlocked and/or vehicles with a key left inside).
They say 70% of the automobiles stolen in Nashville from June 30 through July 6 were taken with keys.
