COLUMBIA, Tenn. - New details emerged in the search for a man Columbia Police believe has been trying to lure children into his truck.

“We've distributed this info to all law enforcement agencies that may work with our jurisdiction,” said Lt. Joey Gideon. “Our investigative team is adamantly working this.”

Police said on Monday, a man driving a red pickup truck approached a teenager and child walking on Dyer Street.

He asked if they wanted to get something to eat, and when they declined, he asked if they would like to see his gun. They called police.

Police said they think the same man may have approached three girls, ages seven to ten, in the same manner.

While no children have been harmed, police have wanted parents to be on alert and on the lookout for the man.

“In that area in particular, if there is any suspicious activity, we are encouraging them to call police,” Lt. Gideon said.

The suspect was described as a white male with grey facial hair. His truck was described as being red, with some white.

Anyone with information has been urged to call Columbia Police at 931-388-2727.
