Police: White House Man Tried To Solicit Child For Sex

A White House man, who is currently out on bond for statutory rape, has been accused of trying to solicit a child for sex. 

Cookeville Police said Shannon Gene Murphy agreed to meet an undercover officer who was posing as a minor. 

Police said Murphy arranged to meet in Cookeville for the purpose of sex. He allegedly sent sexually explicit images to the undercover officer.

He was arrested and charged with solicitation of a minor for rape of a child and four counts of solicitation of a minor by electronic means. His bond was set at $500,000. 

Murphy was out on bond for statutory rape by an authority figure, incest, and sexual battery by an authority figure resulting from an investigation in White House.
