Several people gathered at Coleman Recreational Center in South Nashville for an anti-Donald Trump protest.

During the protest Sunday, one of the organizers shared her thoughts about why she wanted to put the protest together.

"Trump ran a campaign using the rhetoric of hate and targeting members of the Latino community," Brenda Perez said.

Perez said they're done crying, and now they're turning their sadness into educating people about how to live peacefully under Trump's presidency.

An hour before the rally, public school teachers talked with Latino parents on how to handle racism their child may encounter in school. Another group shared ways on how to become activists within their community.

Organizers also focused on learning about safety and security methods and how to de-escalate situations that come up during peaceful protests.

After the different groups met, everyone walked for about 40 minutes on Nolensville Pike while chanting.
