The Chair of the Tennessee Democratic Party, Mary Mancini, called a news conference Friday.
She said it was to point out it's been 30 days since Speaker Beth Harwell and Lieutenant Governor Ron Ramsey publicly called for Representative Jeremy Durham to be expelled from the General Assembly.
“At that time, 30 days ago, the House Caucus called for a bipartisan, transparent investigation in the house,” said Representative Mike Stewart. “If that had occurred, we'd already have gotten to the bottom of this. The public would have the text, we would have any phone records. There would have been testimony.”
Still, the Attorney General has taken over the investigation into the sexual harassment allegations.
According to reports, once the AG has issued his report, the committee will then take action if it's needed.
