“I want to thank Ron Ramsey for his tremendous leadership over these last ten years,” said McNally.
In 2007, Ramsey became the first Republican Speaker of the Senate since Reconstruction.
McNally, of Oak Ridge, is also Chairman of the Senate Finance, Ways and Means Committee.
"I think Randy with his expertise, his chairman of finance, his demeanor, his common sense, is the perfect choice for that transitional period," said Lt. Governor Ramsey.
"I intend to just reevaluate things after two years because I'd be up for re-election and also it's a two-year term," McNally said.
