NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Severe storms moved through Nashville Tuesday afternoon bringing strong winds and heavy rains. The winds downed several power lines including one on Tennessee Avenue in west Nashville.

The live power line sparked a fire in the driveway of a home in the Nations neighborhood.

The fire burned for quite some time but did not spread to the home. It is now out but power to the area still needs to restored.

Thousands of people across Nashville were without power Tuesday evening. Just after 5 p.m. the Nashville Electric Service was reporting over 8,400 people with out power.
