NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The original Predators office dog, Duncan, is nearing retirement age, but he's not just an office dog.

Duncan has worked as a Diabetic Alert Dog for seven years. His age and some medical issues are forcing him to retire a little early.

Part-time Predators employee and Duncan's owner, Ron Zolkower, has just three months to raise the 20-thousand needed for a new dog. Ron is a type one diabetic, and Duncan is trained to alert him when his blood sugar levels rise or fall.

These Diabetic Alert Dogs go through two years of training through a program called "Eyes, Ears, Nose and Paws." They're even able to grab juice from the fridge and get help.

If you would like to help Ron you can visit his Eyes, Ears, Nose, and Paws donation page here.
