'Pub Theology' Uses Beer To Foster Faith Discussions

NASHVILLE, Tenn - While many churches were held Wednesday night services, this week, there was a group of faithful, whose common bond may not have been their religion, but the beer in their hand.

"Pub Theology" groups have been meeting across the nation and for the last year, here in Nashville too.

Organizer JB Ashburn said it was for anybody of any belief to have discussions about beliefs.

Those topics can sometimes be uncomfortable or even contentious so Pub Theology has used beer as the uniter and a way to take the edge off.

"The whole goal of this group is to really just wherever you are in life or whatever you believe grow in that," Ashburn said. "We're not trying to convert you we're trying to strengthen you."

Ashburn said attendees have included Christians, Jews, Buddhists and even Atheists.

Pub Theology has been meeting a few times a month.
