NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A home in Putnam County was destroyed in an overnight fire on Thursday morning. No one was hurt in the fire.

The Putnam County Fire Department said a fire broke out at the home on White Oak Flatt Road around midnight, when a thunderstorm system was rolling through the area.

When firefighters arrived, the home was fully in flames and collapsing on itself.

The fire department said crews had trouble extinguishing the flames due to narrow roads and the locations of hydrants in the neighborhood.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but the homeowner told firefighters lightning hit near the home moments before the fire began.
