With warmer temperatures, comes little critters of all sizes, and ants have started to come out of the woodwork.
With the recent rain in Middle Tennessee they have been drowned out of their homes, causing them to come inside yours.
Pest control technicians have been extra busy recently treating homes. Rob Boyd with U.S. pest protection said he just received 3 calls in 1 day for ants.
With warmer temperatures they become more active, but there are a few things you can do to try to prevent them from making their way indoors.
You can clean up debris from around your home. Ants like to live under mulch and leaves. Treat your plants for insect infestations and seal any cracks you might have.
Ron Schwalb, an entomologist also with U.S. pest protection said it could make a big difference.
“Our number one ant in Tennessee is called the odorous house ant and it can have a number of nests on the outside of the house and come in in different ways like cracks in the foundation through weep holes in the bricks thru windows and a variety of different area,” said Schwalb.
They also said to try to keep those crumbs off your counters. Ants and other insects are often just searching for food.
