BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - An entire community has been rallying behind a mom and pop shop that's being forced to shut its doors.

Dan Smith and his family have run The Granny White Market for nearly 20 years.

They said they don't know why, but on Tuesday they got a call from the landlord telling them they had six weeks to leave.

Sunday, a large group gathered to show their support.

Those at the rally said for generations this has been the place to go for a slice of pizza after school, and they added it has held a lot of memories for those in the community.

“I’ve been here 19 years now, and it’s been a good ride,” Smith said. “People are wonderful. The kids adore me. They adore coming into the market. They just love the purple cow.”

Folks said they hope Sunday's rally will show the landlord just how much this shop means to everyone in an effort to change his mind.
