Neighbors met to discuss a re-zoning plan in East Nashville that would allow for hundreds of news homes in the area.
Only eight single family homes currently sit on Elvira and Maynor Avenues in East Nashville.
However, Elvira Townhomes pitched the idea of building affordable workforce housing in the space between those streets.
Not everyone in the area is happy about it. The goal is to create hundreds of one and two bedroom flats, with the addition of three bedroom townhomes starting around $100,000.
"Taking Keeling down two blocks to Trinity Lane our thought is to put some townhomes along the street and give it kind of an urban neighborhood walkable feel, kind of a brownstone feel, with parallel parking in front kind of ease some of that congestion," said Rob Cushman.
Cushman said it would create a walkable feel all the way down to Trinity Lane. Metro Council will have its first vote on the plan next month.
