HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Mary’s Magical Place is padlocked and shutdown because of the rain we’ve had, some city officials though say getting it back open is taking longer than it should

For the last five months Mary's Magical Place in Hendersonville has been a safe haven for kids with disabilities.

Mayor Jamie Clary has watched as the playground popularity has taken off until recently when a week's worth of heavy rain inundated the area.

The carpet has now been torn up and repairs are going to cost the city about $200,000.

An insurance company has already cut a check to the city but they can't spend the money legally until the mayor and the Board of Alderman meet to appropriate the funds. For various reasons, no one can seem to agree on when to meet.

Even further delaying the repairs is that there's only one company out of Georgia who can recut the special floor here.

So the longer it takes for the money to get appropriated .. the longer this place stays closed.
