NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Residents were briefly evacuated after a small fire at an apartment complex off Murfreesboro Road.

The fire broke out around 7:40 a.m. Monday at the Hickory Creek Apartments on 1150 Vultee Boulevard.

Crews on the scene from the Nashville Fire Department reported seeing light smoke. Firefighters eventually found a small campfire that had been built in a vacant unit.

They were able to put out the flames before major damage could result. The apartment unit suffered minor damage.

Officials said the fire was obviously suspicious. The Fire Marshall was requested to investigate the circumstances leading to the fire.

After a short time, residents were all allowed back into their homes.

No one was hurt.
