NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A new festival has been celebrating its first year in Nashville at Cumberland Park.
The Nashville Rib and Jazz Festival was set to go on until 9 p.m. Saturday.
Organizers said there would be plenty of food and music to enjoy.
The event has been set up as a fundraiser for the Chocolate Jazz Foundation. The foundation has helped keep music alive in schools.
"It's really country-wide where the first thing that schools cut are music programs, and so they don't have the funds to go ahead and repair instruments,” said David Wells, the founder of the Chocolate Jazz Foundation. “They don't have the funds to hire another staff member, so you've got one band teacher that's taking care of the elementary schools and the choirs, and everything is being downsized and it's affecting the kids."
Organizers said there’s a $20 donation to get into the festival.
