Robbery Suspect Shot By Man With Carry Permit

A suspect was shot over the weekend in Murfreesboro after police said he and two others tried to rob two men from Alabama.

Police were initially called to the 600 block of Courtland Avenue shortly before noon Saturday, in reference to a shooting.

Once they arrived at the scene, officers found Deviyon Smith, who had been shot twice.

Around that same time, a man, identified as Justin Alldredge, called 911 saying he’d been involved in a shooting and had fled to another location.

Alldredge told police that he and Cody Davidson had traveled from Alabama to complete a sale of stereo equipment.

At some point, Smith, along with Coteshio Lawrence and Ronnie Scales, allegedly held them at gunpoint. Alldredge, who was armed with a pistol, reportedly shot Smith twice in self-defense.

Police said he did have a proper license to carry the weapon.

From there, Alldredge and Davidson drove to a safe location and called police.

Smith was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he underwent surgery for two gunshot wounds.

Lawrence and Scales were taken into custody and charged with aggravated robbery. Upon his release from the hospital, police said Smith would be charged with aggravated robbery and felon in possession of a firearm.
