Robertson County Fairgrounds Flooded

Heavy rains resulted in damage and flooding at the Robertson County Fairgrounds.

Several buildings were impacted. The building used by the Robertson County Farmer's Market and another used by the Athlete's Training Center for baseball and softball practices both flooded.

Volunteers spent several hours at the facility working to remove all the equipment, clean up muddy floors, and remove excess water.

The facility also flooded in 2010. Volunteers said this time wasn't as bad, but they still had their work cut out for them.

"It isn't easy," said Brandon Suter, who was helping with cleanup. "It's a lot of damage. Mud sets in stuff and causes corrosion problems."

At one point, water was about two feet high inside the building, but receded after a few hours.

The Farmer's Market is normally held at the fairgrounds on Saturdays during the Spring and Summer. The owner of the building said he was hopeful the space would be cleaned up by Saturday, but, if not, the Farmer's Market would be held at another facility down the road.
