A teacher in Rutherford County has been accused of assault.
The mother of a senior at Stewarts Creek High School filed the assault charge against Lyder Dyer, a math teacher, on behalf of her son.
The school was notified of the alleged assault Tuesday morning, Jan. 19.
The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office is the lead investigator.
Dyer was suspended without pay pending the outcome of the investigation. He was a teacher at LaVerne High School since 2006 and was transferred to Stewars Creek in 2013.
His personnel record does not contain any prior reprimands.
