MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Christmas spirit is alive and well in Rutherford County.
An anonymous donation of $7,200 was given to the sheriff's office in $100 bills. Deputies then passed out the cash to people they encountered.
Crystal Goins-North was one of those people. She's spending the season collecting presents for a family in need and will put the money towards that mission.
“I was so emotional about us being able to get that mama Christmas,” Goins-North said. “Everybody pitched in. I want to encourage you. Our God is faithful and He is going to return it. It’s so wonderful that we never go without.”
Another donation went to a single mother working three jobs. One sheriff's deputy says she always greets him kindly at the convenience store and he told her to spend this money on something special for her and her child.
This is the fourth year for the anonymous donation.
