NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Saint Thomas Midtown nurses brought the Halloween spirit to the newborn intensive care unit by hand-making costumes for the babies.

Hospital staff hope the new tradition will bring smiles to the babies' family during the stress of their NICU stay.

This year, nurses made costumes such as Mickey Mouse, Bamm-Bamm from the Flintstones, Robin and a Tootsie Roll. Twin boys were also dressed as a hamburger and a hot dog.

The idea was created by nurse Kim Meeks, whose daughter graduated from the NICU.
