Scammers are targeting Middle Tennessee churches, including those along Interstate 65 in Portland and White House.

According to police, a family of six will enter the sanctuary during Sunday services and bully members or disrupt worship, while repeatedly asking for money.

Recently, the family targeted the Church at Grace Park in White House.

"When they heard we weren't going to give them cash, they kind of split," said Pastor Patrick Nix. "Disappeared while we were trying to help them."

But that was tame compared to other churches have reported.

Police in Franklin, Kentucky said the family disrupted services at several churches there, even grabbing the donation plate and shoving it in member's faces.

Lt. Dale Adams said the family was last seen in Brentwood on Wednesday, though it is believed they are staying somewhere in Clarksville.

Officers would like to make contact with the parents in order to check on the four small children traveling with them.

Lt. Adams said churches should immediately call police if they spot the family.

"Churches are used to helping people, not calling police, but we want to put a stop to this," Adams said.
